Augustana and Carleton Collect CCUNC Relay Titles

The Canadian College & University National Championship Relays produced exciting finishes to theCCUNC competition in Charlo on Saturday with Augustana UniversityCollege of Alberta and Carleton University claiming the men's and women's relay crowns.

The Augustana trio of Scott VanderMeer, Menno Boelman and Carl Skinstad finished the 3 x 3.75km relay in 30:06.1, almost 22 seconds ahead of the University of Waterloo team of Justin Faulkner, Eerik Randsalu and Bryon Hughson. The bronze medal produced a sprint between Lakehead, Laurentian and Carleton with Dan Murray of Lakehead lunging to the finish 0.3 seconds ahead of Paul Lammens of Laurentian. Carleton's Ed McCarthy followed less than a half second later.

On the Women's side Carleton led from start to finish as the threesome of Meagan McTavish, Eva Szabo and Erika Langman finished in 36:58. The trio of Catherine Bode, Emily Hayman and Tara Redpath from Lakeheadpicked up the silver while the University of Waterloo team of Colleen Lynch,Mary Ellen Wood and AndreaDupont finished in third.

The Aggregate Teamcompetition featured two Ontario Universities coming out on top.

The Carleton men's team finished atop the CCUNC standings by a meer 7 points over Augustana University College. Carleton finish with 976 point. Lakehead finished third on the men's side.

In thewomen's overall competition the team representing Lakehead University finishedwith 927 points, almost 13 points more than runner up Carleton University. The University of Waterloo finished in third position.

The Canadian Cross-Country Ski Championships will finish on Sunday with the distance skate events. Senior men will run 50 kilometers while the women will do 30 Kilometers.
