Cross Country Canada, the National Sport Organization for cross-country skiing in Canada, is currently seeking an administrative staff person to fill the role of Coordinator of Administration and Communication. This is a key role in the organization that manages the head office and supports various working committees in their work towards achieving the goals of the long-term strategic plan and the yearly operational plan. The mission of Cross Country Canada is: “To develop and deliver programs designed to achieve international excellence in cross-country skiing.” This position provides critical support towards this mission.

The position is to commence on September 15, 2003 at the National Office which is located in Canmore, Alberta.

The Coordinator of Administration and Communication (CAC) is a full-time position reporting directly to the Executive Director of CCC.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • the daily operations of the main office, including general inquiries from members, divisions and committees;
  • internal communication, including newsletters, supervision of media and PR staff;
  • bookkeeping, including athlete trust accounts, invoicing, cheque issuing and tax receipting;
  • database management;
  • sale of materials;
  • liability insurance program management;
  • organization and support for all AGM, Executive, and committee meetings and conference calls;
  • racing licence and points management;
  • reports for funding partners and some grant applications/proposals;
  • assisting with fundraising and marketing initiatives;
  • promotional projects;
  • program development;
  • web site maintenance;
  • disabled team administration;
  • committee work as assigned
  • The position involves working on a daily basis with a volunteer organization as well as other full-time support staff.


  • post secondary education in Sport Administration, Physical and Health Education, or a combination of education and experience; direct experience or a strong understanding of the sport of cross-country skiing is an asset
  • ability to work in a very fast paced environment and respond quickly and efficiently to inquiries
  • excellent time management and organizational skills, as well as ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks concurrently
  • ability to work as a team player in a volunteer-based organization
  • excellent computer skills in all Microsoft software programs, Simply Accounting, graphics software and an understanding of the web or web maintenance are an asset
  • ability to communicate in both official languages (English and French) is highly desirable
  • willingness to work some overtime and weekends in the peak season
  • Salary range for this position is between $34,000 and $40,000, plus benefits, depending on qualifications and experience.
