Randall, Chamberlain take West Yellowstone Sprints

Kikkan Randall made a strong move in the final meters of today's Continental Cup sprint race in West Yellowstone, Montana to win by a ski length over a fading Katja Ivanova. Ivanova, the day's fastest qualifier, looked strong through the heats, but lacked the punch to win in the final. Brooke Baughman took an uncontested third place after Aelin Peterson crashed at the start.

In the men's race, it was David Chamberlain out stretching Lars Flora at the line for the win. Chamberlain was easily the fastest finisher through all the heats, repeatedly making strong moves in the finishing straight. Colin Mahood finished third just ahead of Torin Koos, who broke a pole on the first corner of the course and made a strong comeback to finish a close fourth.

George Grey was the top Canadian for the second day in a row, finishing second in the B-final for 6th place.

Continental Cup action now moves to Silver Star, BC, for a 15km classic race on Thursday at Sovereign Lakes ski club.
