|Renner Wins New Zealand Championships Pursuit|
Sara Renner and Beckie Scott got an early jump on the 2002/2003 racing season today at the New Zealand National Championships at the Snow Farm on South Island New Zealand. Renner won the event, a 2.5k/2.5k double pursuit in a time of 17 minutes and 11 seconds, 16 seconds ahead of teammate and Olympic medallist Beckie Scott. The Canadian women's team of Renner, Scott and Milaine Theriault is in the middle of a 3 week training camp, where they have enjoyed excellent snow conditions.
While the women's field was not large, it was international, including the Canadians, a New Zealander, a German and two Japanese skiers. Racing continues tomorrow with a 10km mass start skate race.
