Celebrations got underway today at the Canmore Children's Festival with a ceremony to recognize the town's numerous 2002 Olympians. After a quick ceremony and inspiring words from Sara Renner, the Olympians took on the challenge of a obstacle course race.

The first round of competition saw the Olympian team of Sara Renner (xc), Milaine Theriault (xc), Brian McKeever (xc), Robin Clegg (biathlon) and Thomas Grandi (alpine), decked out in their racing duds, struggling with the new race format, but they managed to take a narrow win from the Canmore Town Council Team.

That put the Olympians into the final against the two other advancing teams, Canmore EMS and Canmore RCMP. The two Olympic girls started well and handed over to the boys with a commanding lead. The well oiled athletic machine was in fine form, easily beating the runner up RCMP by almost half a lap. Better luck next time guys!
