Canmore Olympians Challenged to Obstacle Course

Canmore, Alberta will be celebrating their numerous Winter Olympians next weekend in conjunction with their 3rd Annual Children's Festival on May 17 & 18, 2002. On May 17 at 4:00 pm is the "Community Picnic". It is held in Centennial Park with children's games and activities, a BBQ , and an Obstacle Course Challenge. The teams competing in the Obstacle Course Challenge are the RCMP, firefighters, media and town councillors. In the first year of the event the RCMP won, while last year the firefighters dominated. This year an invititation and challenge has been given to a team of Bow Valley Olympians.

Sara Renner (xc), Jaime Fortier (xc), Brian McKeever (disabled xc), Thomas Grandi (alpine), Robin Clegg (biathlon) and Pascal Richard (skeleton) are confirmed to compete of the Olympians team.

In addition to the Obstacle Course Challenge, the town is hosting a celebration for all the Bow Valley Olympians. There will be an official welcoming ceremony, cake and autograph signing prior to the Obstacle Course Challenge.
