Toni Roponen New Finnish Biathlon Coach

It is not uncommon to see European coaches that work within the Canadian National Team program return to home to fill high profil positions in their own countries. Toni Roponen, the former NTDC - Thunder Bay headcoach (1998-2000), has been selected as the new headcoach for the Finnish National Biathlon Team.

Roponen has 2+2 year agreement, giving both sides a chance to review after the first two years. The Finnish Biathlon Association is expecting Roponen to lead the Finnish Biathlon Team all the way to Torino for the next Olympic Winter Games. After heading up the Thunder Bay program, Roponen returned home to coach the Finnish SkiCats (National B-team) and the Junior National Team the past two years.
