Freeman 5th in Kuusamo, Kershaw 16th

The North American contingent continued it's spectacular weekend in Kuusamo today, as American Kris Freeman followed up on Andrew Newell's 4th place sprint finish with a 5th in the 15km classic race. Freeman was just 7.1 seconds from the silver medal. Canadian Devon Kershaw also scored the World Cup result that he's been waiting for by finishing 16th, less than a minute behind the winner.

Czech Republic's Lukas Bauer won the race by over 20 seconds, beating out Norwegian Eldar Roenning and last weekend's German winner Axel Teichmann. There was a large North American contingent starting today, with George Grey finishing 50th, Drew Goldsack in 54th, and American's Lars Flora and Chris Cook finishing 67th and 75th.

One the women's side Norwegian Marit Bjoergen continued her dominance of the World Cup winning the women's 10km classic by 9 seconds over teammate Astrid Jacobsen, while Polish skier Justyna Kowalczyk was third. Kikkan Randall was the top North American in 44th, while Canadian star Chandra Crawford finished 64th.

The World Cup now moves to Davos, Switzerland for more racing next weekend. The Canadian team will be joined in Davos by Sara Renner, who will make her international return after a year off to give birth to her first child.
