World Cup Resumes this Weekend

After a month long break, the Cross Country World Cup gets going once again in Beitostoelen, Norway.  This weekend includes 10/15km skate races as well as a traditional four person relay.

Many of the top racers from seasons past seem to be in great shape to start the first distance World Cup, with names like Kuitunen, Bjoergen, Soedergren, Bauer, Di Centa, Dementiev and Bjorndalen all having won races this past weekend in either Finland, Norway or Sweden.

North Americans expected to race this coming weekend include Devon Kershaw, George Grey and Drew Goldsack from Canada, and Kris Freeman and Lars Flora, representing the USA.  All five North Americans have had positive early season results during Scandinavian FIS races, though Kershaw has shown the most promise, finishing no worse than fourth in the three races he has started thus far.

While no Canadian women will be starting this weekend, Chandra Crawford will soon join the Canadian contingent for World Cup races the week after in Kuusamo, Finland.
