Crawford leads Canadians In WC Opener

Rain and temperatures of 12° did nothing to spoil the party as the World Cup campaign got underway Saturday in the streets of Dusseldorf with Canadians Chandra  Crawford, Devon Kershaw, and Sara Renner putting in strong early season performances.
  Chandra led the team with a strong 28th place finish 1.5 sec ahead of Sara Renner who placed 37th on the 800m sprint course.  Marit Bjorgen continued her winning ways dominating the field and taking a commanding win setting things up for another run at the overall WC title this year.  On the Men's side, the day was won in a photo finish with Peter Larsson winning by a big toe over Olympic Champion Tor Arne Hetland.  Devon Kershaw finished 37th to start off another strong sprint season.
