A big month for 18-year-old Leah Kirchmann

- By: Manitoba Cycling Assoc.

Leah Kirchmann is a first year member of the Callaghan Valley Training Centre, a National Athlete Development Centre based out of the 2010 Vancouver Olympic venue.

Two weeks ago Leah Kirchmann competed in her first World Championships and now two weeks later has earned another World Championship birth.

Earlier this month Kirchmann competed at the Mountain Bike World Championships in Val Di Sole, Italy, where she finished 35th. Without any rest she flew back to Canada and two days later competed in the National Road Championships in Beauce, Quebec.

Despite being tired from her travels, Kirchmann put in two solid performances and was selected to the Canadian Team going to the Road World Cycling Championships in Capetown, South Africa from July 12-20th

Kirchmann’s selection to the team was based on her bronze medal performances in both the time trial and road race at the Canadian Championships.
